Played and coached pro ball in Italy.  Coached Denver Nuggets and was an Assistant Coach with Trail Blazers.  Returned to Italy to coach Benetton Treviso.  Returned to U.S. as an Assistant coach of the Phoenix Suns and assumed the positions as Head Coach in December of 2003. Assumed positions of Executive Vice President for Basketball Operations and General Manager for the Phoenix Suns. He will retain his Head Coach duties for the team, and his contract will be extended through 2010. Named NBA Coach of the Year in 2005.  Mike also has a 4 year commitment to be an Assistant Coach of the USA National Team, including its appearance in the 2008 Peking Olympics, and was the NBA Coach of the Year in 2005

At FSU I was in the recruiting class with Dave Cowens (NBA Hall of Fame and named 50 best all time).  His high school coach was Andy Tonkovich, a former All American at Marshall. Coach Tonkovich recently passed away. He stands as the number 4 or 5 all time scorer at Marshall and was the first overall pick of the NBA draft in 1948.

Plays for the United States National Rugby Team.  Plays professional rugby for Rogivio in Italy. He represented the USA in the Rugby World Cup this past fall. He is considered one of the best players in the world at his position in rugby. He got his start in rugby at MU where before that he played center in BBall.

  Kirk David 55-58 He was recruited to Marshall by Cam Henderson, but played under Jule Rivlin. He was a starter on the 1955-56 team that won the MAC and played in the NCAA tournament. Charlie Slack, Cebe Price, Paul Underwood and Hal Greer were players David had the good fortune to play with. David is proud of Marshall and was privileged to have played basketball and served as the President of the student body 1957-58.  His wife Mary Ann and he is now living in Clearwater Florida. Lee Russell 69-72 Russell Lee was drafted in the first round of the NBA draft by the Milwaukee Bucks, and played professionally for almost 10 years. A little-known fact is that the Bucks used their next pick on Julius (Dr. J) Erving.  He had his #55 jersey, retired during the Marshall Men's Basketball Banquet ceremonies in April 2003.

He is also getting ready to enter his second season as a member of the West Virginia Wild of the International Basketball League. He was also a member of the 2006 IBL All-Star Team. He have been married since 2004.

Watson Larry (Doc) 78-82 A physician in Columbus, Oh, He served residencies at Ohio State University and the University of Western Ontario before beginning his current practice with the Ohio Orthopedic Center of Excellence.
Athletics remain a huge part of his life, serving as team physician for the Columbus Crew in Major League Soccer, a local high school and Universal Gymnasts.  He and wife Bridgett Ryan (also a Marshall graduate) have three sons -- 16-year-old Lawrence, 13-year-old Michael and 11-year-old Christopher

Wilcox Lewie   Deceased June 17, 2006.  Was a member of the legendary basketball teams coached by Cam Henderson that one two Buckeye Conference Championships.  He was an inductee of the Marshall U. Hall of Fame.

Williamson Andy Paul  87-88 Started every game for Marshall as a true freshman in the 1987-88 season, alongside Tom Curry, Skip Henderson, Rodney Holden and Maurice Bryson, logging the most minutes played per game on the team.  This was Marshall's last basketball team to win a conference championship and play in a post-season tournament (NIT).  He averaged over 19 points, 7 rebounds and almost 11 assists per game after 13 games, but finished the season averaging about 9 points, 4 rebounds and 7 assists per game.  He played three games his junior season for Dana Altman and left the team after a tournament in Virginia.  At the time, Andy Paul was number four on the all-time assists leader board for MU.  Andy transfered to Georgetown College in Kentucky and was set to be the starting point guard for the then-No. 1 ranked NAIA school when, in mid-November, he was informed that only 35 of his 71 credit hours earned at MU (3.4 gpa) would transfer to Georgetown!  Since he was already married to Betha and had one child, he quit college again and never returned, having to get on with his life and supporting his family.  Despite not graduating from college, he now works as the chief financial officer for an electrical company that supports the coal mining industry in southern WV and has two sons and two daughters.  His older daughter, Andi, was a First-Team All-Stater as a freshman at Harts High School in 2006, the last year before the State Board of Education closed the school, and led the Lions to the Class A State Runners-Up in softball.  His older son, Paul Herbert, is an 8th grader at Harts Middle School, averaging close to 35 points per game for the undefeated Lions.
